A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted a two-day remand for three accused, Tipu Sultan (35), Md Sajedul Islam (25), and Sagar Ahmed (19), in a case filed over the piracy of the film “Taandob”, which was released at cinema hall during this Eid-ul-Azha.
Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order following a seven-day remand petition filed by the police.
According to the case details, the accused, Tipu Sultan, illegally pirated the “Taandob” movie and distributed a full HD copy across various platforms.
Subsequently, the film’s producer, Shahriar Karim Bhuiyan alias Shahriar Shakil, filed a copyright violation case at Banani Police Station in Dhaka. Tipu Sultan was named as the prime accused in the case.
“Taandob” is a political action thriller film written and directed by Raihan Rafi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Adnan Adib Khan. The film revolves around an attack on a fictional television channel, featuring Shakib Khan, Sabila Nur and Jaya Ahsan in the lead roles.
