Dhallywood actor Azmeri Haque was very vocal during the student-led uprising last year. She took to the streets. She is also criticizing various activities of the current interim government. The actor alleged that she is being trolled as an agent of the Indian intelligence agency “RAW”.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the noted artiste expressed her surprise and wrote, “Back to being a RAW agent again — what a journey”!
She also wrote, “In 2021, I was a proud RAW agent when I acted in a beautiful Bollywood film “Khufiya” directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, alongside my love, Tabu. (If you haven’t watched it yet — please do! It’s on Netflix.) But things took a turn. I wasn’t even allowed to attend the film’s premiere. Why? Because the Indian High Commission rejected my visa — not once, but five times. During two of my interviews with them, they seemed very concerned about a photo I had posted on social media — a picture with VP Noor at a US Embassy programme.”
“Eventually, I had to use my connections — the perks of being close to influential people in my own country. With a few laughs from high officials, I got a one-month single-entry visa. Oh — and according to two influential sources, one of the lead actresses from the film might have had something to do with my visa troubles. Who knows? Not my call. Because of this, I lost several great opportunities in Bollywood and Kolkata”, she added.
“During the July uprising, I was called a CIA agent who took money from USAID to lead a “historic revolution. Then came the label of Jamaat agent — just because I shared a video of one of their leaders on my page. And somewhere along the way, a friend claimed I must be working for Mossad too. And just last night — I’m back to being a RAW agent again! What a terrific society we live in. It’s a fun post. Relax. Smile. And maybe think a little”, Badhon added.
