Warner Bros. is setting a new benchmark in television production with its upcoming 'Harry Potter' reboot, reportedly allocating an unprecedented $100 million per episode, according to the British newspaper Express.
The series is slated to run for seven seasons, each comprising six episodes, bringing the projected total production cost to $4.2 billion—making it the most expensive television series ever produced. This surpasses 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power', which previously held the record with a per-episode cost of $62 million.
A major portion of the budget is being invested in the construction of “Potterville,” a large-scale custom set at Warner Bros. Studios that includes faithful recreations of iconic locations such as Hogwarts, King’s Cross Station, and Privet Drive.
The set is intended to support not only this series but future Harry Potter productions. Development costs for Potterville have already reached $1.3 billion.
The series aims to deliver a more comprehensive adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s original novels. Rowling will serve as Executive Producer, ensuring narrative authenticity.
