On the occasion of May Day, Bangladesh Television (BTV) will air a special drama titled “John Henry” at 9:00 PM today.
This production is based on the song “Naam Tar Chhilo John Henry,” which was written and sung by the artist Hemang Biswas. The playwright Jamiur Rahman Lemon adapted his stage play “John Henry,” originally written in 1985, into a TV drama format.
The narrative explores themes of racism and the rightful claims of workers.
The drama highlights the dedication and resilience of a committed worker, while also portraying the love between John Henry and Mary Macdelin, alongside the struggles faced by a community of laborers working to break mountains.
Produced by Golam Morshed, the cast features Asad, Gazi Faruque, Kabir Ahmed, Nazia Farha, Humayun Kaberi, Uttam Adhikari, Shaon, Rana, Luna, and others.
