Cultural Ministry has honored the team behind the short film ‘Ali’ after its historic selection for the Short Film Competition at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, marking a major milestone for the country’s film industry.
At a press conference held Monday afternoon, Cultural Affairs Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui praised director Adnan Al Rajib and producer Tanvir Hossain, saying their success proves that Bangladesh’s young filmmakers are capable of producing world-class work.
“The Ministry will celebrate Bangladesh’s achievements in art and culture wherever they happen, not just in film,” Farooqui said.
‘Ali’ was shot in Sylhet in November 2024. It presents the story of a person's self-discovery in a simple and easy-to-understand manner.
To encourage this talented filmmaker and his team, the ministry has announced to provide two international flight tickets as an honorarium for them to participate in the Cannes Film Festival. This honorarium will serve as an inspiration for such emerging artists in the future, as a result of which they will bring honor to the country.
The Cultural Ministry believes that this unique achievement of ‘Ali’ will brighten the cultural image of Bangladesh and inspire the new generation of filmmakers to dream bigger.
