Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has arranged a month-long festival titled “Multilingual Festival” (Bohubhashik Utsab) marking the month of language movement.
Various programmes will be held across the country, including divisional, district and central levels. The event organised throughout the month include lecture workshops on languages ‘Multilingual Festival’ on the month of language movementand cultural heritage of different ethnic groups, the first Munier Choudhury National Drama Festival, drama festival on International Mother Language Day, multilingual film exhibition, ethnic beach carnival 2025, remembering the noted people, photography workshop for teenagers, classical music and classical dance festivals.
As part of the festival, a “Lecture Workshop on Languages and Cultural Heritage of Different Ethnic Groups” was organised under the management of the Minority Ethnic Cell in Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari districts on 1-3 February respectively. “Hill Harmony Festival 2025” will be held on 10 February in Bandarban district. “Koch”, “Hodi” and other ethnic groups’ “Harmony Festival” will be held on 15 February in Sherpur district. ‘Lecture Workshop on Languages and Cultural Heritage of Different Ethnic Groups’ will be organised in Jamalpur, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet on 16, 24 and 27 February respectively. “Ethnic Groups Beach Carnival 2025” will be held on 21-23 February in Cox’s Bazar district and “Khasia and Other Ethnic Groups Harmony Festival 2025” will be held on 28 February in Sylhet.
There will be a film workshop in Rajshahi district on 10-20 February. Acrobatic exhibition will be organised in Narail, Khulna, Barguna, Bhola, Barishal, Patuakhali, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Chapainawabganj, Natore, Naogaon, Rajshahi and Sirajganj districts throughout the month of February.
“Elias Mela 2025” will be held in Bogura on 12-15 February in collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Alamgir Kabir, Tareque Masud, Abdul Jabbar Khan, Mrinal Sen, DL Roy and Zia Haider will be remembered in the “Remembering the Noted People” segment on February 16 to 27.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation will jointly organise “Amar Ekushey Natya Utsab” at Suhrawardy Udyan Muktamancha on 19-28 February. “Drama Festival on the Occasion of International Mother Language Day” will be held in Barisal and Rajshahi on 20-22 February. A “Multilingual Film Exhibition” will be held in Narayanganj, Jamalpur, Gopalganj, Chapainawabganj, Joypurhat, Khulna, Jashore, Dinajpur, Patuakhali, Jhalokati, Barguna, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Barisal throughout the month. “Jatrapala Rachana Karmashala” will be organised in Dhaka from 22-23 February.
In addition, the exhibition “Mountain Pictures, Mountain Films” will be jointly organised by the Department of Drama and Film and the Department of Research and Publication of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
