Renowned Lalon singer Farida Parveen was admitted to the hospital early this morning with severe respiratory distress and is now in ICU.
Gazi Abdul Hakim informed that fluid has accumulated in her lungs, along with several other complications.
Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of Universal Medical College, shared an update on her health, stated that she was admitted early this morning due to severe respiratory distress. After undergoing tests, she was moved to the ICU. Her lungs are impacted, and she is also dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and age-related issues. She is being cared for by specialists in respiratory diseases, nephrology, and critical care. Her condition is complicated, and dialysis has been recommended. The situation will be closely monitored.
Farida Parveen began her music career in 1968 as a Nazrul Sangeet singer for Rajshahi Radio. She gained fame in the early 1970s for her patriotic songs and later studied Lalon music under spiritual mentor Moksed Ali Shah.
In recognition of her contributions, she was honored with the Ekushey Padak in 1987 and the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize from the Japanese government in 2008. In 1993, she won the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer. To promote Lalon music among children, she founded the Achin Pakhi School.
