Bangladesh is ready to make a significant mark at the Nepal International Film Festival this March with ‘Agantuk’ (The Stranger).
Biplob Sarkar’s film ‘Agantuk’ which has earned recognition at local festivals , now it will be featured at the prestigious event. The eighth edition of the festival will be held from March 20 to March 24.
Director has announced that his film has been selected for the "World Panorama" section of the Nepal Film Festival.
Expressing his excitement, the director said, ‘Agantuk’ has also been highly praised at the Dhaka International Film Festival, and the screening was a full house. It’s clear that the audience here is interested in watching films with unique narratives. The film is now going to the Nepal Festival, and it has already been screened at two other festivals. Soon, it will also be shown at the Guwahati Asian Film Festival. Overall, the feeling is great."
In addition to directing, the filmmaker also wrote the story and screenplay of the film. The storyline of ‘Agantuk’ revolves around a 10-year-old boy named Kajol. He lives with his mother and ailing grandmother, struggling to make ends meet. One day, his long-lost father, who had disappeared for years, returns as a stranger to the family. The film explores the tensions, dilemmas, and conflicts that emerge from his unexpected arrival.
Ferdousi Mazumder, a prominent stage actress, portrays a key role in Agantuk. Talking about the film, she said, " 'Agantuk’ is a courageous production that presents a very timely story."
