Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, two famous Hollywood stars, rekindled their relationship almost 20 years after their first engagement. They got married in 2022 but separated peacefully after two years.
The two Hollywood stars, who wed in a private Las Vegas ceremony in 2022, had been facing increasing rumors about their relationship before Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. The filing mentioned their separation date as April 26, 2024.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially finalized their divorce, marking the end of their two-year marriage. Court documents obtained on January 6 confirmed that the couple had reached an amicable settlement, reports the Statesman.
The divorce settlement outlines that both Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will keep the earnings they accumulated during their marriage, with no spousal support required from either side.
Lopez will also revert to using her maiden name, officially dropping “Affleck.” This decision follows a period of public appearances that hinted at trouble in their relationship, including Lopez attending events solo, such as the 2024 Met Gala.
In an interview with comedian Nikki Glaser, Lopez opened up about the emotional toll of the breakup, describing how her world felt like it had “exploded” during the separation.
Reflecting on her personal growth, she shared, “You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t.” Lopez revealed that she took a step back from the public eye, canceling her tour to focus on herself and her family.
She emphasized the importance of self-discovery, calling this challenging time both the hardest and the most rewarding period of her life.
Despite their separation, Lopez and Affleck have maintained a friendly relationship. They have been spotted together at family gatherings, including a holiday meal in Los Angeles and a September event with their children.
Lopez has since embraced her newfound independence, admitting that she is not actively seeking a new relationship. “There’s no new bar because I’m not looking for anybody,” she told Glaser, adding, “What if I’m just free?”
