The former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Barrister Tureen Afroz, was arrested late Monday by Uttara West police in Dhaka in connection with an attempted murder case involving attacks on students and civilians.
Police raided her residence on Road 11 of Sector 3 in Dhaka’s Uttara around 11:30 pm and detained her from the premises, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman of Uttara West Police Station.
According to police sources, Tureen has been accused in multiple murder cases connected to recent anti-discrimination protests.
Acting on intelligence, a police team conducted a raid at her residence and later took her into custody, said Hafizur Rahman.
She has since been brought to the police station for further legal proceedings.
