BNP joint secretary general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said, “We want a Bangladesh where democracy will have a strong foundation. Otherwise, Sheikh Hasina will get another opportunity. This opportunity cannot be given. If someone wants to give that opportunity, then the future of Bangladesh will go towards darkness again. Bangladesh's democracy will be under threat. Bangladesh's politics will become abnormal.”
Annie said this while speaking as the chief guest at Tarique Rahman's Eid gift distribution ceremony among hundreds of leaders and activists who were martyred and persecuted in the movement to restore democracy in Lakshmipur on Saturday afternoon. The event was organized at the party office in the district town.
Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie also said, “Many BNP leaders and activists have been disappeared and murdered in the last 15 years. If they want to get justice, they will have to prepare a real case. If there is no case, they will not get justice. However, do not involve anyone in a case due to enmity. Do not harass an innocent person in a case. In Bangladesh, in the last 6/7 months, along with real cases, some fake accused have also been registered, due to which the cases become weak. Thus, the real accused gets a chance, but you will not give this opportunity.”
Annie further said, our movement was not just a July movement. There were many July-August movements in the last 15 years. The latest is this July movement. So we are all one and the same. No one should give a chance to create a rift here. Many have been martyred, disappeared, murdered and crippled in the last 15 years, have lost their eyesight and many have been martyred in the July movement. All of them have struggled for the country. After the people's government is established, Tarique Rahman will take their responsibility.”
