No scope to delay elections using reforms as excuse: Ishraque

Engineer Ishraque Hossain, the special assistant of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee of the BNP Chairperson said attempts are being made to bypass the election just by talking about reforms.

“The reforms that have been carried out in the country by the BNP have not been done by anyone else,” he said.

He said, “The people have been struggling for the right to vote for 17 years. Thousands of people have given their lives to cast their votes themselves. However, despite the departure of the dictator who fell due to supreme sacrifice of the mass people and students, the conspiracy to control the vote still continues.”

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and iftar mahfil in Sandwip upazila of Bhola on Tuesday afternoon held for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the good health of acting President Tarique Rahman. The program organized at the premises of Purba Sandwip Multipurpose High School in the upazila was presided over by BNP Central Executive Committee member Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton.

Ishraque Hossain said, “Fascist Hasina has filed a case against 6 million BNP leaders and activists. She has disappeared, murdered, and crippled hundreds of leaders and activists for life. She has committed inhuman torture against the family of Shaheed Zia. BNP will ensure the maximum punishment for Hasina, for whom our life became unbearable and the country had become economically crippled.”

He said, “There has been a movement in the country due to the lack of democracy. And the main condition of democracy is the right to vote. Today, those who want to erase the constitution will not succeed. Ideological politics must be practiced. No kind of disunity or discrimination can be created.”

He also said that a group is involved in a conspiracy to tarnish the reputation of BNP. A class of media has joined this. Sheikh Hasina's friends are present in every field. These friends are the obstacles in moving the country forward.

Addressing the leaders and activists, Ishraque said, “The conspiracy against BNP is still ongoing. Everyone has to work with the persons the party nominates. The defeated forces cannot be allowed to implement their conspiracy to set the country back.”
