The head of the Constitutional Reforms Commission, Dr. Ali Riaz, has commented that it is possible to amend several aspects of the constitution before the elections.
He said this at a press briefing of the Constitutional Reform Commission organized at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building on Thursday.
Professor Ali Riaz said, "For a free and fair election, several aspects of the constitution can definitely be amended before the elections. However, that is a matter for the consideration of the government and political parties. We have identified some problems and informed the government about this and hope that the government will soon take a decision on this matter and make the necessary reforms. Therefore, it can be said that constitutional reform is definitely possible before the elections."
At that time, in response to a question from media personnel, Ali Riaz said, "Whether the constitution will be reformed through a referendum or not is also a matter for the consideration of the government and political parties. Although there are differences of opinion among political parties, I believe that they are in agreement on the job of reform. Whatever is needed in terms of political change has to come from within the political parties and it cannot be forced from outside.”
