A seven-member National Consensus Commission has been formed, with the interim government's Chief Advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as its chairman.
The Vice-Chairman is Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, head of the Constitution Reform Commission.
A related announcement was issued on Wednesday, signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid.
The commission's members are: Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, head of the Public Administration Reform Commission; Safar Raj Hossain, head of the Police Reform Commission; Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, head of the Election System Reform Commission; Chief Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, head of the Judiciary Reform Commission; and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, head of the Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission.
The commission is scheduled to begin its work on February 15.
The announcement states that the commission will consider the recommendations of the commissions formed for reforms in the election system, police, judiciary, public administration, constitution, and anti-corruption efforts, and will engage in discussions with political parties and forces to build a national consensus.
The commission's office will be designated by the government, and its term will last for six months from the date of commencement.
The Chief Advisor's office will provide administrative support to the commission, as stated in the announcement.
