Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes in Manikganj resumed at 8:00 AM today after an 8-hour suspension due to dense fog, which had stranded six ferries and over a hundred vehicles. Operations were halted at midnight yesterday, leaving around 500 vehicles waiting at the terminal.
The ferry authorities said, ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia river routes were disrupted since Sunday evening, with fog intensifying after 11:00 pm. Visibility was severely reduced, and ferry channels, beacon lights, and marking points became indistinct. To prevent accidents, the BIWTC authorities halted ferry operations on both routes at midnight.
As a result, six ferries carrying over a hundred vehicles became stranded in the middle of the river, causing significant hardship for passengers, workers, and businesspeople.
