Finance adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has called on the banks to stand by their customers in their happiness and sorrow, rather just collecting the installments.
He made the call while addressing a conference with Karmasangsthan Bank officials at Bidyut Bhaban on Sunday.
The adviser said that if some of the assets of social responsibility are given to this bank, the assets of the institution will increase.
However, stating that general banking will not be good in terms of financing, he said that the government will try. Along with this, it will be necessary to diversify its own products to increase profitability.
Apart from this, Mr Ahmed also said that they are getting a good response from donor organizations.
At the event, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur said: “The more women are involved in financial activities, become financially independent, and participate in the workforce, the more the country will develop.”
Finance Department Secretary Dr Md Khairuzzaman Majumder called for giving priority to women entrepreneurs in loan distribution. He said: “Women's active participation in economic activities will strengthen their financial base and increase their independence and social status.”
The guests inaugurated the Sanchita project for women's empowerment at the event.
