Five killed in road accident in Cox’s Bazar

At least five persons including three of a family were killed following a collision on head between a CNG auto-rickshaw and a dump truck in Hazibazar area under Pekua upazila here Thursday morning, reports BSS.

The deceased were identified as Feroz Ahmad, 49, hailed from Madhyam Madarsha area of Hathajari upazila of Chattogram district, his wife Shahin Akhter, 29, their six months children Zahedul Islam, CNG driver Monirul Mannan, 22, hailed from Dhaniakata area of Pekua upazila and Abdur Rahman, 32 hailed from Sonalibazar area of Ujantia union.

The accident also injured the other two children of the Feroz-Shahin couple.

Confirming the incident, Officer in Charge (OC) of Pekua Police Station, Mohammad Sirajul Mostafa said, "The five bodies of the deceased are now under police custody. Police have detained the truck and the CNG".

Local people added: that accident took place at around 7.30am and three auto-rickshaw passengers died on the spot. Later, the duty doctor announced Feroz and his six-month-old children died when they reached to Pekua upazila health complex.
