The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has stayed the High Court's order granting bail to former state minister for aviation, Mahbub Ali, in connection with the murder of one Siam under Dhaka's Mirpur police station, reports Dhaka Tribune.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Senior Justice Ashfaqul Islam, issued the order on Tuesday after hearing a petition filed by the state challenging the High Court's bail order.
On September 16, the court ordered the detention of former minister for culture Asaduzzaman Noor and former state minister for Aviation Mahbub Ali.
Police had sought their detention until the investigation of the case was complete.
According to the case details, Siam Sardar, an employee of Hotel Rabbani in Dhaka’s Mirpur area, was injured by gunfire near Mirpur-10 on July 18 while returning home after duty.red him dead.
On September 4, Siam’s father, Sohag Sardar, filed a murder case with the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and instructed Mirpur police station to register it as a First Information Report (FIR).
