A case has been filed against 48 people, including the former MP of Narayanganj Shamim Osman for an attempted murder. A young man named Jashim Khan was shot during the anti-discrimination movement which ultimately led to this murder case being filed.
On Wednesday night (October 30), the victim himself filed the case at Siddhirganj police station.
Siddhirganj police station's acting officer-in-charge (OC) Al Mamun has confirmed the filing of the case.
Among the other accused are Shamim Osman's son Ayon Osman (37), his nephew Azmeri Osman (45), Narayanganj city Awami League leader Shah Nijam (56), Siddhirganj Thana Awami League president Mojibur Rahman (78), Siddhirganj Thana Awami League general secretary Haji Yasin Mia (62), and Siddhirganj Thana Jubo League convener Matiur Rahman Moti (55).
According to the complaint, on July 20 at around 5:30 PM, Jasim Khan and other students and citizens were gathered on Chittagong Road in Siddhirganj. At that moment, the main accused Shamim Osman and another accused, Shah Nijam started firing on the protesters, resulting in Jasim being shot in the left arm. He received initial treatment at Khanpur General Hospital and was later was taken to Dhaka's Pangu Hospital.
