A total of 52 leaders and activists of BNP, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, have been released from the charges under the Explosives Substance Act.
Judge Qudrar E Ilahi of the Dhaka 15th Special Tribunal has discharged the accused from the case after a hearing, defence counsel Zakir Hossain told newsmen.
A hearing on charge framing in the case filed with Paltan police station in the capital is scheduled for Thursday.
The defence side at the hearing appealed to discharge the accused, saying there are no substantial materials in the case that can make the court indict them.
Police filed the case against BNP leaders and activists on 6 January 2015 for hurling cocktails at law enforcers from a procession, vandalising vehicles and setting those on fire.
The leaders who were relieved of the explosive case include Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Barkatullah Bulu, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Amanullah Aman, Zainul Abdin Farroque, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Mir Sorafat Ali Sopu, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Sultan Salauddin Tuku and Saiful Islam Nirob.
