President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Tuesday called for more investments from Spain in different sectors, particularly in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Bangladesh, reports BSS.
He was the call as the newly appointed Spanish ambassador in Dhaka Gabriel Maria Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru presented his credentials to him at the Bangabhaban in the capital.
Appreciating the Spanish investment in Bangladesh, the head of state said Spain is one of Bangladesh's export destinations, President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin.
Welcoming the ambassador, the President said the existing bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Spain are very good and progressing.
The mutual relations between the two countries would expand in various sectors during the tenure of the new ambassador, President Shahabuddin hoped.
The Spanish envoy said the development and progress of Bangladesh is very commendable.
The existing relationship between Bangladesh and Spain would increase in days to come, he added.
The Spanish envoy sought the full cooperation of the President in discharging his assignment in Bangladesh.
On his arrival at the Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoy a guard of honour as part of the ceremony.
