Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accused former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of "crying crocodile tears" over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, suggesting her concern is insincere. Rizvi questioned what reward Hasina expects from India for her actions, emphasizing that Chinmoy's arrest followed the country's laws.
He also criticized India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for issuing a statement on the incident, while remaining silent about the killing of Biswajit by Chhatra League members.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made these remarks as the chief guest at an essay competition prize distribution ceremony in honor of BNP’s founder former President Ziaur Rahman, held at Rajshahi University on Thursday, in commemoration of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
He also asserted that Bangladesh’s independence was not for subjugation to India, stating, “The people of Bangladesh will never bow down to Delhi.” Rizvi accused India of trying to bring back Sheikh Hasina, whom he referred to as a “killer of Abu Saeed and Mugdha,” using various issues as leverage.
He further added that a nation of 180 million people would not be intimidated by conspiracies, and the people of Bangladesh are willing to sacrifice their lives to protect their sovereignty, as demonstrated during the July-August revolution. “On August 5, there was a world-shaking revolution,” Rizvi remembered.
