Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman said passenger harassment and delays in getting luggage at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) decreased.
He said they have already taken punitive action against some responsible persons based on complaints from the passengers.
Claiming that passenger harassment has declined at HSIA, Mafidur Rahman said the problem will not exist after launching the third terminal. All activities will be operated at the third terminal through automation. Skilled manpower is needed for automation.
The CAAB chairman said a hotline service has been introduced in July this year. Passengers are submitting their allegations through this 24-hour hotline. A mandatory course has been included for all members of every organisation working at the HSIA.
Training is being given to staff of 24 government organisations and 32 airlines. Officials of the customs, immigration, APBn, airport health, NSI, AVSEC, Bangladesh Biman and foreign airlines are taking part in the training, he added.
