BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday made an effort to assure the opposition leaders and activists by saying that there will definitely be a change in the government this time, no matter what tricks the Awami League government adopts.

“You can rest assured that the change is coming, the change will happen, the truth and beauty will win, and the democracy will win Inshallah,” the BNP leader told a discussion meeting, reports UNB.

Fakhrul said their party believes in the power of people and the politics of democracy, which is now appreciated by the entire world.

“That is why we are now so optimistic. Many people ask me why I always wear such a smile on my face. I smile because I can see so clearly that this terrible monster (govt) is moving away from our chests through the turbulent waves of  people,” he said.

The BNP leader said the people all over Bangladesh have started to wake up as they want to ensure the fall of the current regime. “

“They (people) really want to build a democratic state."

Stating that the ruling party leaders are making unguarded and contradictory remarks out of fear of losing power, he said Awami League will not get even 10 seats if the election is held under the caretaker government.

Bangladesh Krira Unnayan Parishad organised the programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU)., marking the 54th founding anniversary of the BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's late younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.

Govt out to scare foreigners of bugbears

Fakhrul alleged that the government has staged a drama by conducting an anti-militancy drive at Kulaura in Moulvibazar district to divert people’s attention from the ongoing movement and to scare foreigners of bugbears.

“A proof of how terrible and cunning they (govt) are is that they caught four men, five women and a child from a remote house at Kulaura through a sudden anti-militancy drive…they also recover 3kgs of explosives and detonators. How terrible it was,” the BNP elder said.

But he questioned from where the suspected militants suddenly went to the house and who brought them and how they brought the explosives and detonators there.

When the movement gets intensified, Fakhrul said then the government always stages a drama over militants.

“It's an ominous sign. You’ll see now that they will try to divert people’s attention by talking about militants. They’ll again try to scare the Western world of bugbears by saying look militancy can’t be controlled in Bangladesh if we’re not in power,” he observed.

The BNP leader said the government has reached the current stage and grasped the entire Bangladesh by staging various dramas.

Khaleda is very sick

Fakhrul said Khaleda Zia, now receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital, is very sick. , “

“Had it been in any other civilized country, the government, the government would have taken the initiative to send her abroad for treatment.”

He said doctors have been saying repeatedly that the treatment she needs is not possible in the country and she needs to go to an advanced centre abroad for her treatment.

The BNP leader bemoaned that the government’s political vengeance has gone to such a level that it always want Khaleda Zia to leave the world forever.

He also claimed that Arafat Rahman left this world at a young age because of political vengeance though he had no direct involvement with politics.
