The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC arranged a special prayer at the Islamic Centre after Juma prayers on the occasion of the National Mourning Day and the 48th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports UNB.
On the occasion, a special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members martyred on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975.
A large number of devotees including ambassadors and diplomats of different countries took part in the special prayer.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Muhammad Imran and officials and employees of Bangladesh Mission participated in the doa and munajat. Later, food was served on behalf of the Embassy among the devotees.
The Bangladesh Embassy has drawn up different programs to observe the 48th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Father of the Nation on August 15 in a befitting manner.
An essay competition on the life and works of Bangabandhu has been organized for the children of different age groups of the Bangladeshi diaspora.
