The highlights of the proposed budget for fiscal year 2023-24 are following--Total proposed budget-- Tk 7,61,785 crore which is 15.2 percent of the GDP growth target 7.5 percent, reports BSS.
Revenue target is Tk 5 lakh crore.
Out of this, Tk 4.30 lakh crore to be collected through National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Tk 70 thousand crore from other sources.
Budget deficit—Tk 2.61 lakh crore (5.2pc of the GDP).
Out of the total deficit, Tk 155,395 crore are proposed to be financed from domestic sources and Tk 102,490 crore from external sources.
The average inflation is 6 percent.
This is the 5th consecutive budget of incumbent Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
Tax-free income limit: Tk 3.5 lakh for individual taxpayers Tk 2,000 minimum income tax proposed.
Corporate tax rates to remain unchanged.
Priority has been given to build physical, social as well as technological infrastructure which is suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution to pave the way for building a smart society, smart citizen, smart government and above all, smart economy.
The aim of the budget is a hunger and poverty-free, knowledge-based and developed 'Smart Bangladesh'.
