Two members of a family were killed when their bike was hit allegedly by a speeding vehicle in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon on Friday.
The deceased are Shahidul Islam, 28, and his nephew Mohammad Payel, 18, residents of Barunagaon village in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Pradip Chandra Roy of the Baliadangi Fire Service said, the accident occurred around 12 am near the Kalmegh Bardali area in Baliadangi upazila.
"We were alerted about the bodies of the two lying on the roadside by a passerby, and later police were also informed," he said.
Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khairul Anam Don said that Shahidul and Payel were returning home on their bike when they met with the accident.
"We suspect their bike was hit by a large vehicle like truck. The bodies have been handed over to the family," he said.
Efforts are on to identify the vehicle and arrest the accused, said the police official.
