5 held with 24 gold bars in Hili check post

Customs officials detained five persons with 24 gold bars weighing 2.4kg from the Hili check post in Dinajpur area on Wednesday.

The detainees were identified as Manaranjan, Farhad, Monirul Islam and Jasimuddin hailing from Manikganj and Matiar Rahman from Dhaka.

Customs intelligence superintendent Sohel Raihan confirmed the matter.

Customs recovered 10 gold bars searching two persons, Sohel Raihan said, adding that 14 more bars were found scanning the bodies of three others based on the information given by the first two detainees.

The estimated value of the seized gold bars is Tk 1.68 crore, added the official.
