Awami League Organising Secretary Mirza Azam on Wednesday alleged that BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman had killed Bangabandhu along with his family members on August 15 in 1975.
“He (Ziaur Rahman) not only killed Bangabandhu but also formed a law to exempt the killers of August 15 and November 3 jail killing.”
Mirza Azam made the allegation while addressing the triennial council of Ghior Upazila Awami League in Manikganj as the chief guest.
The senior leader of the party said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia did now allow Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina to discuss the grenade attack in the parliament which was carried out at an Awami League rally at Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21, 2004.
He also said Bangladesh was a five-time champion in corruption during the BNP regime.
“Khaleda Zia is a thief and Tarique Zia is a killer,” he said.
