Youth held with 106 gold bars in Jashore

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a youth for possessing 106 gold bars weighing 12.5kg from the Sharsha border in Jashore on Tuesday.

The arrestee is Saju Ahmed, 19, son of late Abdul Salam, hailing from Baro Kabilpur village under Chougacha upazila of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, BGB personnel conducted a raid at Bangda point of Kashipur border under Sharsha upazila around 3 pm and detained Saju and seized 106 gold bars from his possession. 

Lt Col Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui, commander of 49 BGB, confirmed the matter.

Saju was handed over to the local police station and a case was lodged in this connection.
