E-government Survey of United Nations showed that Bangladesh is in top position among least developed countries with a score of 5630.
The survey report was published on Wednesday at UN headquarter in New York.
Bangladesh got 111th position among 193 countries. LDCs like Bhutan, Rwanda, Nepal and Cambodia are behind Bangladesh with scores of 5521, 5489, 5117 and 5056 respectively.
The UN released the report based on the survey of 2022. The report said that Bangladesh had done excellent development in digital monetary transactions. The E-government Survey evaluates e-participation, online services, telecommunication infrastructures and human resources. United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) releases the result of the survey in every two years.
According to the report, in comparison to 2020, Bangladesh advances by 20 steps by achieving a score of 5227 to secure 75th position. However, it was in 51th position in 2018.
Bangladesh got 6521, 4469 and 5900 scores in providing online services, telecommunication infrastructures and human resources respectively.
In the report, it’s also stated that through e-participation tool, Bangladesh works across the country and in each City Corporation and local administrative level for the purpose of development of communication and cooperation.
The report said Bangladesh has achieved excellent development in online financial transaction as through agent banking and cellphone financial service they’ve been able to render digital monetary service to almost 10 crore people.
