Youth politics in Sylhet is getting revitalized as Jubo Dal, youth wing of BNP have chosen new leadership after conference of the wing held after two decades and the full-fledged committee of the Jubo League is going to have approval from the party’s central command very soon.

Keeping ahead upcoming next parliamentary election, youth wing of both parties are striving to strengthen their position in root level. Observing the overall situation, political analysts think a new momentum has been created in youth politics of Sylhet. As the leaders-activists of the youth wings on any party put a deep impact in any election, both the leading political party have taken initiatives to strengthen their youth wing, they think.

According to Jubo League sources, conferences of Sylhet district and city Jubo League were held in July 2019. President and general secretary of both branches have been elected through voting process; however, as the full-fledged committee hasn’t been formed the organizational activities lost the momentum.

Besides, Jubo League committees in 27 wards under the City Jubo League have also been formed. City and district wings of Jubo League have submitted their full-fledged committee to the central command. The units of district wing have also trying to form their own committee quickly. As the district and city committee got the signal of getting their committee approved from the central command and the units are going to finalize their own committee, the leaders and activists of these youth wings are getting inspired to reinforce their activities.

General secretary of Sylhet District Jubo League, Md Shamim Ahamad said as we got green signal of the approval of committee from the central command, the leaders and activists are charged up.

General secretary of Sylhet City Jubo League Mushfuq Jaigirdar said we’ve submitted the full-fledged committee almost a year ago and are hopeful of getting approval very soon.

On the other hand, getting new leadership through conference that was held after along wait of 20 years revitalized Jubo Dal in the city. On September 10 and 11, they got president and general secretary through direct voting held in the conference of district and city Jubo Dal.

Under new leadership, the party wing has become reactivated as Jubo Dal city and district wings already held some programmes in Sylhet. They want to have a big showdown in their upcoming programmes on September 25 in their divisional conference and October 5 in a youth rally going to held in the city.

Sylhet City Jobodol president Shahnawaz Bakht Tareque said the conference boosted up the confidence of the activists. Activities in root-level will be initiated after reformation of the party.

Sylhet District Jubodol president Mumunul Islam Mumin said the process of making Jubodol stronger is under way as committee formation process through councilors in each upazila has been started.
