Miscreants killed a gold trader in Patia Upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday night, police said.
The deceased was identified as Dhiman Dhar, son of Dulal Dhar of Bonik Para under the Dhalghat union of the Upazila.
Quoting locals, police said some miscreants swooped on Dhiman at Larihara village while he was returning home by motorcycle from his jewellery shop at Rahattarpur under the Upazila and killed him.
Patia Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Rashedul Islam said on information police recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Tarik Rahman, additional police superintendent of Patia Circle, said police have already detained some people in this connection for interrogation.
Dhiman might be murdered over the previous enmity, he added.
