A student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur found dead at Azizul Haque mess in Kamer Mor area which is in front of the university campus.
The deceased was identified as Shahnaz Akter, a resident of South Ghagoa of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. She was studying in the final year of graduation in the department of accounting and information systems of the university.
According to other students from the mess, the door of Shahnaz's room was closed from 3pm on Saturday. They thought she was sleeping.
As she did not respond, they found her hanging from the ceiling fan inside the room through the window. Later, in the presence of the teachers, the police came and brought down the body.
University proctor Golam Rabbani said, He went to the spot with the proctorial team after getting the news that a student of the university had committed suicide.
“On being informed, the police came and took down the body. The police have been asked to complete all the formalities,” he added.
