Two children drowned in the Turag River while bathing at Kodda Kuarpara under Bason Police Station in Gazipur on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Sayeem Hossain, 13, son of Ali Akbar and Shishir, 12, son of Monzu Mia of Kodda Kuarpara.
Police and eyewitnesses said three children went to Turag River for a bath at noon. At one stage of bathing, Sayeem and Shishir drowned. Hearing the screaming of the third child, locals recovered the bodies of the due.
They were rushed to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Confirming the matter, Bason Police Station Sub-Inspector Matiuzzaman said the bodies of the two children were handed over to their families.
