The Railway Police have filed a case against the arrested gateman Saddam Hossain in the case of the train hitting a microbus in Baratokia area of Mirshrai, Chattogram.
The case was filed at the Chattogram Railway Police Station last Friday midnight on the charge of negligence. Zahirul Islam, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the police station filed the case. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazim Uddin of the police station confirmed the matter.
On Friday evening, Saddam Hossain was arrested by the police from Baratokia area. Meanwhile, Saddam Hossain has been suspended by the Railways.
On Friday at 1.30 pm, the Mahanagar Prabhati Express from Dhaka to Chattogram rammed a microbus carrying tourists and took it a kilometer away. Eleven people died on the spot and six others were injured.
The victims were residents of East Khandkia village of Amanbazar in Hathazari Upazila of Chattogram. The deceased, excluding the driver, are teachers and students of a local coaching center. They went on a trip to Mirsharai's Khaiyachhara Jharna by the microbus.
Eyewitnesses and train passengers alleged that there was no signal or barrier as there was no gateman at the site of the accident.
