The United States has announced an additional $4 billion Foreign Military Financing (FMF) loan guarantee to Poland, bringing the total U.S. support for Poland’s defense to more than $11 billion over the past two years; the state department of the USA stated this on Thursday (Washington time).
This new loan guarantee underscores Poland’s pivotal role in NATO’s Eastern Flank and its strategic partnership with the United States. Since 2023, Poland has embarked on a significant military modernization program, acquiring advanced U.S. defense systems such as Apache helicopters, HIMARS artillery, Patriot air defense systems, and the Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance System.
FMF loans and guarantees are a key element of U.S. security cooperation, offered to the nation’s closest allies. These funds will accelerate Poland’s defense capabilities, strengthening NATO’s deterrence posture in Eastern Europe.
The announcement highlights the United States' ongoing commitment to Poland’s security and NATO’s collective defense, ensuring regional stability and a secure future for Eastern Europe.
