The 7th ‘PaperTech Expo-2026’ has begun at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. The three-day exhibition is showcasing paper, paper raw materials, paper mill machinery, and backward and forward linkage equipment from various paper mills in the country.
Bangladesh Paper Mills Association Secretary General and Magura Group Chairman Mustafa Kamal Mohiuddin officially inaugurated the exhibition on Thursday (April 16).
In his inaugural speech, he said, “This expo will create a great opportunity for the paper industry and paper product manufacturers. It will show the way for new innovations to increase production and ensure quality. Participation in this international trade fair provides an opportunity to see the modern technologies and innovations that have been developed over the past few decades around the world in one place.”
He further said, “Despite the current unstable global situation, I applaud the courage and talent of those of you who participated in this Paper Expo. Such trade fairs will help you network with new customers and suppliers, learn about competitors, and explore recent opportunities.”
Mustafa Kamal Mohiuddin said, “Currently, the paper industry in Bangladesh is quite self-sufficient. Although it is facing some problems due to global economic instability, there are now about 100 paper mills in production in Bangladesh. Paper products produced by these business entities are being exported to 40 countries around the world. We hope that this industry will develop further in the future.”
Speaking as a special guest at the event, Md Mustafizur Rahman, Chairman of the Association’s Business Development and Export Standing Committee and Senior Deputy Managing Director of Bashundhara Group, said, “This exhibition will showcase renowned manufacturers; Suppliers of machinery, chemicals and raw materials and technology have come together to share their experiences here. Bangladesh is a growing economy and its paper industry is also growing steadily.”
He said, “Bangladesh is not only self-sufficient in the paper sector, we are now also exporting paper abroad. Therefore, such expos act as a meeting place for buyers, sellers and technology suppliers. I hope that all the participants, stall owners and visitors present here will benefit a lot from this. This will not only lead to personal growth, but also benefit the country’s economy and our employment opportunities will increase through such activities.”
Jyoti Kumar Bajaj, Managing Director of Krishna Tissue Private Limited, India, Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Managing Director of Papertech Expo and Bangladesh Exhibitions Private Limited, and Mashrufa Hossain, Advisor to the organization, among others, also spoke at the inaugural ceremony.
