Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said that markets will no longer be controlled by syndicates in the country, and they will erase from Bangladesh the idea that markets are controlled by syndicates.
He said this while inaugurating the country's first direct farmers' sales center 'Krishaker Haat', an initiative of the district administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension in Tilagarh of Sylhet city on Saturday morning.
The district administration has said that farmers will sell their produce directly at this haat(open market) to break the syndicate system.
While inaugurating the haat, the minister also said that the entire supply chain of the country will be included in the AI model to keep import-dependent products stable, and it will make market surveillance easier and the market situation will remain stable.
The Commerce Minister said, “The scope of TCB's activities in the country will be expanded, and that the government provides a subsidy of Tk 32-33 billion for TCB's work every year, which will be reduced. However, TCB's activities will be expanded.”
The Commerce Minister also said, “The District Administrators in every district will take measures so that farmers across the country can sell their produce directly to buyers at least once a week.”
