Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that an initial 5 million family cards are being distributed with the aim of achieving equitable socio-economic development and sustainable state capacity.
He said this in his speech in the National Parliament on Friday.
The Finance Minister said that initiatives have been taken to cancel 'zombie projects' that are unimportant to the people and have been running for a long time without funding.
He further said that the goal has been set to transform Bangladesh into a trillion-dollar economy by 2034 through planned economic reforms and effective initiatives.
He said that the government is implementing various programs to strengthen social security and ensure inclusive growth, as part of which the family card distribution program has been undertaken.
