The government has issued a series of urgent measures to address the ongoing fuel supply situation, including instructions to keep major fuel depots open during public holidays.
In line with this move, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has directed its marketing companies to keep their main depots operational and continue supplying fuel oil on weekly holidays.
The directive was announced in a press release on Thursday signed by BPC Secretary Shahina Sultana.
According to the statement, the main establishments and depots of BPC’s marketing companies will remain open on public holidays, including Friday and Saturday, to ensure uninterrupted fuel distribution.
The release said the measure aims to maintain a normal supply of fuel oil across the country in line with public demand.
It also noted that fuel imports are continuing regularly, with scheduled shipments arriving from overseas to support domestic supply.
“To maintain normal fuel oil supply in the country in accordance with demand, import activities and shipment schedules from abroad have been arranged and consignments are arriving regularly,” the statement added.
The latest directive is part of the government’s broader efforts to stabilize the country’s fuel supply chain and prevent disruptions in distribution.
