The prices of goods in Bangladesh will not rise for the time being, Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir said on Tuesday.
Speaking while distributing family cards to beneficiaries in three villages of Ward No. 6, Kulonj Union, Dirai Upazila, the minister said the current government is working to overcome stagnation in investment that occurred during the Awami League and interim administrations. Initiatives are being taken to create an investment-friendly environment and generate employment opportunities.
“There is no shortage of fuel, oil, or other essential goods in the country. As a result, prices of goods will remain stable for now,” the Commerce Minister said.
He cautioned, however, that prolonged conflict in the Middle East, particularly a war involving Iran, could affect Bangladesh’s trade and commerce via maritime routes, which may have implications for the economy.
Muktadir emphasized that the government is actively monitoring the situation to ensure stability in both prices and trade while promoting investment to support sustainable economic growth.
