The price of gold in Bangladesh has been reduced by Tk3,266 per bhori, with the new rate for 22-carat gold set at Tk264,948 per bhori (11.664 grams), Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced today.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the BAJUS made the decision at a meeting held at 9:30am on Monday.
BAJUS said the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) declined in the local market, prompting the adjustment.
Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk252,876 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk216,775 per bhori, read a press release signed by the standing committee chairman, Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
The price of gold produced under the traditional method has been set at Tk176,943 per bhori.
According to BAJUS, the new prices came into effect from 10:00am today.
Silver prices have also been reduced. Bajus cut the price of 22-carat silver by Tk 175 per bhori to Tk 6,357.
The price of 21-carat silver has been set at Tk 6,065 per bhori, while 18-carat silver will cost Tk 5,190 per bhori.
Silver produced using the traditional method will be sold at Tk 3,907 per bhori.
