The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has invited public opinions, suggestions and objections on the draft Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Capital Market Related Information Disclosure and Whistleblower Protection) Rules, 2026, reports BSS.
The draft has been formulated under the powers conferred by Section 33(1) of the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, 1969 (Ordinance No. XVII of 1969) and Section 24(1) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993 (Act No. 15 of 1993).
The proposed rules are designed to strengthen transparency and accountability in the capital market by introducing a dual-purpose framework. They outline comprehensive provisions for the disclosure of capital market-related information while also ensuring legal safeguards for whistleblowers who report financial misconduct or irregularities in the sector.
Through the new regulation, the commission aims to enhance market integrity, encourage responsible reporting of wrongdoing and protect individuals from retaliation for disclosing violations.
