Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said that LPG prices will not be increased for the time being, reports Daily Sun.
He made the announcement on Thursday after a meeting with representatives of LPG importing and supplying companies at the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat.
The meeting was convened to discuss the current market price and supply situation of LPG.
The minister said that while LPG supply remains normal, demand has increased, and some retailers are taking advantage of the situation.
He noted that meaningful discussions were held to ensure that consumers do not suffer.
The problems highlighted by importers and suppliers will be addressed, he added.
The commerce minister also expressed hope that with enhanced market monitoring, LPG prices will return to their previous level.
