The government has canceled the contract of Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, effectively paving the way for his departure from the country’s central bank.
At the same time, the process of appointing Mostaqur Rahman as the new governor is underway, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Dr. Mansur was appointed governor by the interim government following the fall of the Hasina administration. An economist by profession, he took charge of the central bank during a period marked by financial sector reforms and economic challenges.
He replaced former governor Abdur Rouf Talukder, ushering in a new leadership phase at Bangladesh Bank.
The latest move signals another significant shift in the country’s financial administration as authorities move to install new leadership at the helm of the central bank.
