Trading on the country’s two stock exchanges moved upward in early hours on Tuesday, with major indices posting gains on both bourses.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index rose 18 points in the first half of the session. The Shariah-based DSES index gained 2 points, while the blue-chip DS30 index advanced 14 points.
Market breadth remained positive as 187 listed companies recorded price increases, compared with 122 decliners, while 80 issues remained unchanged.
Turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 450 crore during the first half of trading, reflecting active participation by investors.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also registered gains, with its overall CASPI index climbing 43 points over the same period.
Of the traded issues at the CSE, 67 companies posted gains, 33 declined and 31 remained unchanged. The port city bourse recorded a turnover of Tk 10 crore in the first half of the session.
