Resort industry has launched aggressive Ramadan discounts of up to 50% in a bid to capitalise on the pre-Eid travel rush and recover from two years of subdued business.
With political uncertainty easing following the formation of a new government, operators say confidence is gradually returning to both leisure and corporate travel. Industry insiders expect stronger occupancy during Ramadan and Eid compared to the past two seasons.
Khabir Uddin Ahmed, president of the Tourism Resort Industries Association of Bangladesh (TRIAB), said the sector suffered heavy losses amid political instability and a challenging business climate.
“We are hopeful of recouping losses from the past two years. With the election completed ahead of Eid, we anticipate better business this Ramadan and Eid than in previous years,” he said.
Heavy discounts across key destinations
Resorts in major tourist hubs including Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Gazipur and Bandarban have introduced bundled Ramadan packages targeting families and group travellers.
In Gazipur, Chuti Resort is offering a full-board Ramadan package at Tk5,999 for two adults and one child up to 10 years, down from Tk7,900. The package includes Sehri, Iftar and dinner, and remains valid until the eve of Eid.
Bhawal Resort & Spa has announced a 40% discount, bringing the rate down to Tk8,280 for two guests. The offer, valid from 19 February to 18 March 2026, includes Suhoor or breakfast and access to facilities such as the swimming pool, kayaking, gym and playzone.
Nokkhottrobari Resort is offering the steepest discount, slashing room rents by 50% until the 27th day of Ramadan.
In Bandarban, SAIRU Hill Resorts Limited is providing 45% discounts on weekdays and 35% on weekends and public holidays from 18 February to 16 March 2026.
The Palace Luxury Resort has introduced Ramadan packages starting at Tk13,999 per night in its Tower Building on weekdays and Tk14,999 on Fridays.
Villa rates range from Tk14,999 to Tk15,999 per night per couple. The package includes Sehri or breakfast and Iftar followed by dinner for two adults and two children up to 10 years.
BRAC’s otithi launches thematic packages
BRAC’s community-based tourism platform Otithi has partnered with Grand Sultan Tea Resort & Golf, Nazimgarh Lalakhal Resort and Iraboti Eco Resort to offer curated two-day, one-night Ramadan packages valid until the 28th of Ramadan.
The Sylhet package is priced at Tk18,500 per couple, the Sundarbans package at Tk17,500, and a Sreemangal retreat at Tk22,500 per couple.
The packages include accommodation, Sehri or breakfast, lunch or Iftar and dinner, guided tours, local transport and entry fees.
Sector eyes recovery
Industry operators believe the Ramadan discount campaign will help lift occupancy rates and improve cash flow ahead of Eid, traditionally one of the peak periods for domestic tourism.
After two turbulent years, stakeholders see the promotional drive not merely as a seasonal offer but as a strategic effort to restore consumer confidence and reposition the resort industry for sustained recovery.
