The Bangladesh Bank on Sunday purchased US$123 million from eight commercial banks through multiple auction methods, reports BSS.
According to central bank data, the dollars were bought at an exchange rate of Tk 122.30 per US dollar.
With the latest transaction, total dollar purchases by the central bank reached $1,448 million in February and $5,381.50 million in fiscal year 2025–26 up to February 22.
Sources said the move is part of Bangladesh Bank’s strategy to stabilise the taka against the US dollar and strengthen remittance and export inflows.
