Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has said that prices of some essential commodities will decrease during the upcoming holy Ramadan.
He mentioned that imports of essential goods have increased by 40 percent compared to last year, which will help keep prices within the reach of ordinary people.
The adviser made the remarks on Sunday after a taskforce meeting reviewing the prices of essential food items and the overall market situation ahead of Ramadan.
Sk Bashir Uddin said traders have assured the government that the supply of essential commodities remains normal. Prices will remain under control during Ramadan.
He also said prices of daily necessities during this Ramadan would be more affordable than in the previous year.
